MO1178-
This rare original German medal dates from the 1938 Nuremberg Rally, one of the final massive annual political mass gatherings organised by the Nazi Party in Nuremberg as a show of strength and unity under National Socialism. The rallies were key propaganda events throughout the 1930s, using pageantry, parades and large-scale ceremonies to project the regime’s power and ideological message to both participants and the wider world.
The medal commemorates the Johannis Sportsfest held in conjunction with the 1938 Rally. These auxiliary sports festivals were staged to promote physical culture and community spirit within the Third Reich and tie athletic achievement to the broader nationalist narrative.
