General Questions
What is CoinsTree
CoinsTree is a specialised online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling coins, banknotes, and other numismatic collectibles. The Platform connects independent buyers and sellers in a structured environment designed specifically for collectors and professionals in the numismatic field.
Who can use CoinsTree
Any individual aged 18 or over with the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts may register and use the Platform.
Account and Verification
Is there a buyer verification fee
Yes. A one-time $1 buyer verification fee is required before an account can purchase items, place bids, or submit offers on CoinsTree. The fee is charged only once per verified buyer account and is not recurring.
Is there a seller verification fee
Yes. A one-time $1 seller verification fee is required before an account can create or publish listings on CoinsTree. The fee is charged only once per verified seller account and is not recurring.
Why does CoinsTree charge verification fees
Verification fees help reduce fake or duplicate accounts, irresponsible bidding, fraudulent listings, spam, and misuse of the marketplace. They are intended to encourage genuine buyers and sellers to use the Platform responsibly.
What happens if verification is not completed
Accounts that have not completed the required verification may have restricted access to buying, bidding, submitting offers, or selling features.
Buying on CoinsTree
How do I place a bid
Once buyer verification has been completed, you may place bids on auction listings. A bid represents a legally binding commitment to purchase the item if you are the winning bidder.
How do I purchase an item
Depending on the listing type, you may purchase an available item through the purchase or checkout options provided on the listing. Buyer verification must be completed before purchasing, bidding, or submitting offers.
How do I submit an offer
Where offers are enabled by the seller, a verified buyer may submit an offer through the listing page. Sellers may accept, decline, or respond to offers in accordance with the available Platform features.
What payment methods are accepted
Available payment methods may include PayPal and major credit or debit cards, depending on the payment options available for the transaction or at checkout.
What happens if a seller does not ship my item
Buyers should first contact the seller directly to resolve the issue. While CoinsTree may review reports and take action under its policies, CoinsTree is not the seller and does not assume responsibility for shipment or delivery of an item.
Selling on CoinsTree
Does CoinsTree charge a Final Value Fee
Yes. CoinsTree charges a 5% Final Value Fee when an auction item or other eligible marketplace item is successfully sold. Classified listings are excluded from the 5% Final Value Fee.
How is the 5% Final Value Fee calculated
The 5% Final Value Fee is calculated from the final item sale price. For example, if an eligible item sells for $100, the CoinsTree Final Value Fee is $5.
How much of the sale amount do I keep
For an eligible marketplace sale, the seller keeps the final sale amount after the 5% CoinsTree Final Value Fee and any separate third-party payment processing charges have been deducted. Classified sellers are not charged the 5% Final Value Fee and keep the full classified sale amount, subject to any third-party payment processing charges.
What is the auction listing fee
CoinsTree charges $0.10 for each auction listing published on the Platform. Each auction listing runs for up to 7 days. The listing fee is charged when the auction is published and is separate from the 5% Final Value Fee charged if the auction item is successfully sold.
What happens when a 7-day auction ends
When an auction ends, the listing closes in accordance with the auction results. If the item sells, a 5% Final Value Fee applies to the final item sale price. If the item is listed again as a new auction, a new $0.10 auction listing fee may apply.
What happens if my auction item does not sell
If an auction item does not sell, no 5% Final Value Fee is charged. The $0.10 auction listing fee remains non-refundable because it applies to publishing the 7-day auction listing.
What is the classified listing setup fee
CoinsTree charges a one-time $5 setup fee for each classified listing published on the Platform. Classified listings are not subject to the 5% Final Value Fee or any CoinsTree percentage sales commission when the item is sold.
Is there a Final Value Fee on classified listings
No. Classified listings are excluded from the 5% Final Value Fee. The seller pays the one-time $5 classified listing setup fee and no CoinsTree percentage sales commission is charged when the classified item is sold.
How long does a classified listing remain active
Classified listings have no fixed expiration date and may remain active without a recurring listing fee until they are removed by the seller or otherwise closed in accordance with CoinsTree marketplace rules.
Are listing fees refundable
No. Auction listing fees and classified listing setup fees are non-refundable once the listing has been published. The 5% Final Value Fee is charged only after an eligible item has been successfully sold, except where a refund is required by applicable law or expressly approved by CoinsTree.
Safety and Authenticity
Does CoinsTree guarantee authenticity
CoinsTree does not authenticate items unless explicitly stated. Sellers are fully responsible for ensuring that listings are accurate and that items offered are genuine.
What if I suspect counterfeit or prohibited items
Users should report any suspected counterfeit, stolen, or prohibited listings through the Platform’s reporting tools. CoinsTree reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action.
Account Management
Can my account be suspended
Yes. Accounts may be suspended or terminated if Platform policies are violated, fraudulent behaviour is suspected, payment obligations are not met, or legal or marketplace safety risks arise.
Can I cancel my account
Users may request account closure by contacting support. Outstanding verification fees, listing fees, Final Value Fees, or unresolved transactions may need to be settled prior to closure.
