It was a token used in the banana industry —to count delivered bunches of bananas, boxes. “Banana tally” means a banana accounting token.
Antilles Products Ltd were established as banana exporters in Dominica in October 1948. They began shipping bananas from St Lucia in 1951. J. van Geest acquired a shareholding in the company in December 1952 and in 1954 the name was changed to Geest Industries Ltd.
The token was stamped with AP to show that it was issued by, Antilles Products Ltd.
