Frans Francken II (1581–1642)
A member of a prolific family of painters from Antwerp, Frans Francken II was one of the most influential figures of late Flemish Mannerism. Son of Frans Francken I, he developed a refined technique, especially recognized for his cabinet compositions with religious, historical, and allegorical scenes teeming with figures. He frequently collaborated with other artists and was a prominent member of the Guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp. His style is characterized by attention to detail, multiple storytelling, and delicate chromaticism, making him a reference of early Baroque Flemish art.
